Does Dogs Deserves to Eat Bones

Last week, I bought a raw bone in the market to reward my dog as to show how I misses  my fur buddy since I was away for a week. I told my wife what I did but  she told that I shouldn't have given our dog raw bone because it could harm him. I told her that raw bones are dogs' favorite treats ever since and it is even being showed on some TV shows and movies that this treats for the dog would not harm our dogs. As to prove this thought to my wife, I did search  the internet and to my surprise, most of the articles that I have read says bones and even raw bones are dangerous to dogs. Just to have an  idea, I will enumerate the pros and cons of bones so you could weigh if giving them as treats is really beneficial for our buddies:

Pros

• Bones contains calcium and phosphorus that is really good for dogs diet.
• Bones provides good oral hygiene as this helps removes tartar which causes gum disease.
• It helps our dog relieves boredom and helps our dog brains stimulate.
• It helps digestive functions which offers cleansing and scouring effect on the system.
• Makes dog poop regularly.

Cons

• Can make your dog with gastrointestinal obstruction ( blockage on digestive tract)
• Could cause choking
• Cuts a wound in the mouth or on tonsils
• Could cause vomiting
• Bleeding from the rectum which caused by bone splinters
• Could cause death due to damages caused by bone splinters.

There are still a lot  more to list down but I think these are the most significant list on pros and cons about giving a bone to a dog. For now I am still confused whether to give my dog a bone again or not. Though the benefits for my dog would still be good for my fur buddy but I can't risk his health over it. Maybe I would just buy a carrot or vegetables for him to chew on just to be safe. How about you? Would you risk your dogs' health to give the treats that dog really loves? Let me know your thought.
